Even after reading some excellent and truly Christian texts about themes I want to learn more about, I find it necessary to also spend massive amount of times in reading my Bible on my own. It brings everything back into perspective.
Yesterday I read John 1-7 and this morning John 8-12, and would like to report the effect on me of these readings.
But first I should specify that I am asking God as I read His word that He helps me, through His Spirit, understand it.
From yesterday's reading (John 1-7), the Spirit of God impressed on my mind that no one can understand who Christ is unless the Father reveals it to a person. This led me to pray God to open the mind of those with whom I share my faith so that God opens their heart and mine also so that I pay attention to their real concern as they seek to know God.
What strikes home to me in today's readings from John 8-12 is that it would make no sense at all for Jesus to act as he does and to speak as he does if he were not truly God as the natural flow of John 1 through 12 leads us to believe.
I pray this short mediation of mine might be used by the Spirit of God to help some of you in our common quest to better know Christ day after day (see 2 Peter 1).
