In response to the question "Who is Jesus Christ?" in the Christian ex-Jehovah Witnesses Recovery group, on FaceBook, I answered: He is my Lord and my God (John 20:28), as Thomas acknowledged after expressing doubts that Jesus could have been risen from the dead (John 20:24-28). Notice Jesus' response to Thomas exclamation that Jesus was his Lord and his God (John 20:28). Jesus clearly accepts Thomas's affirmation as a truth statement (John 20:29), instead of rebuking him for erring. Now consider this in light of humans bowing to angels elsewhere in the Bible, or people wanting to worship apostles in the book of Acts.
Indeed, John 20:24-29 stands amongst the most important passages of Scriptures that led me to recognize that Jesus is God.
What about yourselves? What are some of the most important biblical texts that have led you to understand who Jesus really is?
