Is the Christian teaching of the Trinity truly based on the Bible or is it mostly inherited from Christian theologians? I know this teaching is from the Bible and not a theological invention because I worked through the Scriptures themselves and found it there.

I eventually came across Edward Henry Bickersteth's The Trinity, Kregel publications, 1980 reprint. I found it to be the most useful book on the subject I ever came across. It basically followed the same path I had try to follow, going through the Scriptures.

A full version of it can be consulted on line under under its original title The Rock of Ages, or Three Persons But One God.

In response to the question "Who is Jesus Christ?" in the Christian ex-Jehovah Witnesses Recovery group, on FaceBook, I answered: He is my Lord and my God (Mt. 20:28), as Thomas acknowledged after expressed doubts that Jesus could have been was risen from the dead (Mt. 20:24-28). Notice Jesus' response to Thomas exclamation that Jesus was his Lord and his God (Mt. 20:28). He confirms Thomas's affirmation by accepting it as a truth statement, instead of rebuking Thomas for erring. Now consider this in light of humans bowing to angels elsewhere in the Bible, or people wanting to worship apostles in the book of Acts.
Indeed, Mt 20:24-29 stands amongst the most important passages of Scriptures that led me to recognize that Jesus is God.

The very old book, The Rock of Ages, or Three Persons But One God, helped me resolve this question for myself. It scans the Bible thoroughly, being attentive where God the Father, where God the Son, and where God the Spirit are mentioned. The book then helps us seeing that the biblical data invites us to understand God in the way that is summarized by terms such as "trinity" or "triunity."
