Autobiography and Learning

I was astonished one day to discover that life stories were considered – in certain European and North American university circles – as both a knowledge advancement methodology and a means of self-awareness training…

Autobiography and Learning - Lamentations 3.22-23
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3.22-23, ESV)

It can be learnt from J. M. Cox (1980), « Recovering literature’s Lost Ground Through Autobiography », in J. Olney (éd.), Autobiography: Essays Theoretical and Critical, Princeton University Press, New Jersey, p. 123-145, that some writings not dealing with personal material can still provide autobiographical information about its author.

So, from that perspective, this entire Web site can be seen as autobiographical, in that it deals with those matters that I find of utmost importance. Hence it reveals who I am from a different perspective than does the explicitly autobiographical material published at www.savoiretcroire.ca, most of it however untranslated to English.

As I watched the recording of Canadian TV show 100 Huntly Street, I realized I was hearing someone testifying of Christ from a different angle than I do on this Web site, but with some of the same insights that changed my life. These videos are available at 100 Huntley Street (now in an Archived subsection).

Several of the interviews below are from Neil T. Anderson, an author to whom I relate greatly; first, with regard to what he shares of his own life through these interviews; second, with the emphasis he lays on our identity in Christ, and the practical daily decisions and peace that come with such an understanding of who we are through Christ. These interviews were published by  100 Huntley Street and are still available from their Archives, their YouTube Channel, or from the links provided below:

The following two interviews each provide partial understanding of what it means to believe in Christ today, the first emphasizing the act of faith involved in becoming a Christian, the second, the commitment to a changed life. These can be viewed at http://www.100huntley.com (Video -> Search):

  • Why We Believe, interview with Karl Faase, Nov 29, 2013;
  • Tolerance vs Repentance, interview with Robbie Symons, Oct 30, 2013.

The next group of interviews at http://www.100huntley.com are from Dr. Larry Crabb sharing his journey in knowing God and in interacting with each book of the Bible as being a personal love letter directly addressed to himself from his heavenly Father:

Apologist Josh McDowell  shares his life story at http://www.100huntley.com:
